The Story: |
The Story takes place in the early 1800's. Travel is by horse and buggy, however firearms have been invented. Rusty is a young 22 year-old, healthy, happy kid. He is burying a neighbor's cat when he strikes a small, ancient looking chest. Inside the chest is a large, natural gold nugget and 3 scrolls:
The chest is one of 60, planted about the countryside many years ago by Smiley... "The Last Pirate". Smiley was heir to an unbelievable stash of stolen pirate loot, but alas, had no heir himself. Smiley devised "The Scheme" to sort out someone who would seek “To Find Wisdom” in lieu of Gold. If you should choose to follow the “To Find Gold” scroll, it's likely you will find "The Treasure of a Lifetime". However, once you have found your treasure, the wisdom scroll will not work for you. If that sounds impossible, just consider... Smiley was a smart pirate! Rusty goes on an adventure in search for Wisdom and in the process learns a lot about pirates, girls, love, bad guys, and most importantly, life's values. The reader learns these lessons along with Rusty, but also sees the value of being true to one's inner self, which is Rusty's nature. If you like “The Hobbit”, you will like this book. There are no trolls, goblins, wizards or magic. But, life itself is magic. Some of that magic is in "The Last Pirate". © Copyright 2004 - Craig Leidy |
